It is very easy for architecture to become the sole focus of attention when design is considered. However the creation of a town is much more complex. The structure of the town plan which dictates the street network, the relationship between buildings and the street, and the public realm is vital to the way in which people use and enjoy a place. Landscape is often underestimated in its importance, whether it be the hard landscaping of pavements, roads and squares or softer landscaping of green spaces, trees and hedges. Finally architecture. Clearly a key element but if the other elements aren’t also in place it will lose some of its impact.
The Estate has spent a great deal of time bringing these elements together and wishes to protect this vision during implementation. A Design Code has been created to provide rules and guidance for house builders and homeowners so that Tornagrain can be protected for current and future generations.
